Breakfast food is my favorite food but I'm definitely not a morning person. In college, my roommate would wake up for an early morning jog to the dining hall. She would ask if I wanted waffles or pancakes, and I (too sleepy to actually open my eyes or form any verbal response) would hold up 1 finger for waffles and 2 fingers for pancakes (genius, I know). And when I decided to wake up, I would have breakfast waiting for me on my desk! I no longer have that luxury, but lucky for me there's this thing called brunch in which I can sleep in and still get my breakfast food fix.
Joyce and I love brunch so when she suggested Early Bird I immediately agreed. When we arrived, there was a worker outside with two pieces of bread feeding two ducks. He passed us a piece of bread and asked us to help. Apparently the ducks come by everyday to get fed!
Pork Belly Eggs Benedict.
The pork belly was delicious, crispy perfection. We asked for extra crispy hash browns which mixed green onions and cheese in with the potatoes. The Sriracha hollandaise was so good - not too spicy but with just enough of a kick.
Brioche French Toast.
Two extra thick slices of bread stacked with apple sauce between them, topped with orange butter and spiced almonds. I wish that the entire bread had been dunked in egg wash instead of just the tops and bottoms. But the orange peel and vanilla bean infused syrup made up for it all. I could eat that syrup for days.
I'd definitely come back for the Pork Belly Eggs Benedict and to try the rest of the menu (hopefully something else to dunk in their syrup!) Brunch is served on weekdays from 7am-2pm and weekends 6:30am-2:30pm. So you can be an early birdie, or sleep in and still eat yummy food. Y'all know I prefer the latter.
xoxo, allison
