COOK | KILLER CHEESY GARLIC BREAD

I don't know why I haven't blogged about this sooner. Tracy's Killer Garlic Bread is seriously THE BEST garlic bread you will ever make and eat. I've made this three or four times already and there are never any leftovers. Sometimes I want to make spaghetti JUST so I can make this garlic bread. This time my brother insisted that I add mozzarella cheese to half of the loaf but you could just as well add it to both halves or not add it at all.

Recipe Adapted from Shutterbean
Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of French Bread (or whatever you like) about 14x6 inches
  • 1 stick butter
  • 6 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp salt (or use salted butter)
  • 1/2 tsp dried dill*
  • 1-2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded (optional)
  • pinch cayenne pepper

  1. Place the stick of butter and chopped garlic in a microwave safe bowl. Heat for about 1 minute in the microwave or until butter has completely melted.
  2. Put all of your dried herbs, garlic powder, and Parmesan cheese in the butter and finish with a pinch of cayenne pepper.
  3. Let the mixture sit for about 5-10 minutes until it hardens up again (mine never completely re-hardens but I wait until it has cooled).
  4. With a soft spatula, smear on each half of your bread and put the loaf back together.
  5. Wrap with aluminum foil and bake in the oven at 350 for about 20 minutes.
  6. Open the bread up sprinkle your mozzarella cheese on one or both sides.
  7. Place under broiler for about 2-4 minutes until it's toasty brown (& cheese is melted) but making sure it doesn't burn.
  8. Remove from oven, cut into slices and share (or don't)!

*I just realizes this time that I've never added the dill because I don't have any my spice cabinet, but I think it's supposed to be the secret ingredient so I can't even imagine how much more amazing this garlic bread will be once I get some!

Cancel your dinner plans for tonight and make this garlic bread...with some pasta on the side I suppose.
xoxo, allison
