DIY | ICE CREAM PARTY IN A BOX

Today is my bff's birthday! Happy Birthday Natalie! She's away in Hawaii working with military kids on the Joint Base Pearl Harbor/Hickam base through a program called Camp Adventure. You can read about some of her weekend adventures here. Anyways, since I couldn't celebrate with her in person in Hawaii (I wish!) I decided I was going to send her an epic birthday package. Joyce suggested that I send her a ice cream party in a box, so that's what I did! Since I sent it using the Priority Mail Flat Rate medium sized box I wanted to make it as heavy as possible..haha.

Here's what I sent:

  • Ice cream money - you can include giftcards for Coldstone or Baskin Robbins but since I wasn't sure which ice cream places were closest to her I decided to send her rolls of coins HAHA (2 rolls of nickels and a roll of pennies = $4.50)
  • Birthday candles (you can also include a small book of matches for lighting)
  • Napkins
  • Spoons - I Modpodged some glitter on the handles of plastic spoons and tied them together with a ribbon bow
  • Ice cream scooper
  • Candy toppings: Sour gummy worms, Swedish fish, gummy bears
  • Hot fudge - wrappend in bubble wrap
  • Maraschino cherries with stems - wrapped in bubble wrap
  • Sprinkles
  • Birthday Cake Oreos (these are her favorite, plus they can be crumbled and used as toppings as well)
  • Waffle bowls
  • Birthday card (I'll share pictures later)
  • other fun miscellaneous gifts - I sent a swim suit bottom and bandeau top, which also added padding to the package

With a little bit of Tetris skills, everything fit perfectly inside the box (sorry I forgot to snap a photo). Make sure to add extra padding if you have room in the box to prevent things from moving around. I mailed it last Tuesday and she received it on Thursday.  Hooray for fast shipping and early delivery! I love sending surprises to show my friends how much they mean to me. Even though the temperatures are dropping and winter is almost here, I believe that it's never too cold for ice cream. So gather up some treats and send someone special a ice cream party in a box!
xoxo, allison
